There are three types of dampers:

1) extension damper:provide controlled speed while the rod is being extended out of the tube.

2) compression damper:provide a controlled speed while the rod is being compressed back

into the tube.

3) dual direction damper: Dual rate dampers have equal amount of damping in both directions.
